Family Background

My name is Chen, Guan-Ling.    As my mother's only daughter, I am a bit quiet.  For I was born in a single parent family, I lived in Grandmother’s house for my childhood.  Yet, my mother worked on her own to raise me; as a result, she didn’t have enough time to accompany me; then, I was taken care of by my aunt. 
My aunt was a strict person; hence, I was asked to be a person with dignity.  Notwithstanding her rigor, she wouldn’t oppress me.  As a little girl, I was always afraid of making mistakes, for I thought I would definitely be scolded after she perceived my fault; to my surprise, she didn’t just blame me for what I did; instead, she taught me something meaningful.  That is, it’s well-mannered that a person should apologize when doing something wrong.  Also, as the person receives someone’s aid, he or she must say thank you to whomever assists him or her.  Though I felt awkward at first, now I won’t feel uncomfortable any more.  Fortunately, now I am courteous to everyone under such instruction.
