Best of the semester - 2
In 1999, after a group of collegians in Northwestern University vindicated another student's innocence, the matter triggered the discussion over the death penalty in America . Yet, I support that the penalty should exist for these wherefores below. First of all, since some people may consider it brutal to deprive a person of his life even though he might be a criminal, I hold that it serves him right; in my view, a convict should think of the consequence just before he does something illegal, and once he does it, he has to shoulder the penalty instead of shirking the punishment against laws protecting human rights. Secondly, as long as the death penalty is abolished, the whole society must be in a state of chaos; those who commit crimes will never be afraid of the coming of the retribution. Also, I am of the opinion that if the death sentence exists, the public will definitely live in peace and happiness without worrying about the misfortune's happening to them. In light of all the points mentioned, it is undeniable that the existence of the death penalty is dominant to a certain extent.
